SCOTLAND

Scotland is, of course, much more than tartan and whiskey. Our brief visit in late September of 2015 gave us time in Edinburgh and its Old Town before heading up to Glencoe and the Highlands, and then over to the Isle of Skye. Castles, beautiful glens, colorful woodlands and lochs in the glaciated landscape, often partially hidden in looming clouds and misty rain, evoked enough romance to keep us spellbound for hours. The hikes up in the Scottish hills were as steep and challenging as ever, but the views were outstanding. Amazing seafood dinners and a 'wee dram' before bed capped many wonderful days.
